When we build, Wilson Miner

NEW

The computer being the equivalent of a bicycle for our minds was something interesting I had never taken into consideration same with tools just being extensions of ourselves and abilities. I also agree that when we are gone all thats left of us is what we have made basically our impact on this world.

I agreed with his line about how we put so much of ourselves into these things. These things being objects, and i agree I could never leave the house without something like my phone because i have too many things attached to it even if it is indeed just a tool.

I think it might be wrong to try and compare app longevity to say a house because we don’t know the true and full scope of apps because they are relatively new when you compare it to something that has been around for practically forever.

Will it be a bad thing to be more engrossed within technology as we move forward?

Design systems

NEW

RIGHT

WRONG

HUH

Auditing texts used on designs to categorize into styles was smart and I never thought about doing that and it would speed up my work

I agree with reducing redundancy and keeping things consistent in your style when designing things. It would be helpful to speed up the iterative process by using systems.

Shouldn’t design systems be used from the get go of a project since it not only helps usability and keeping things together but also can be applied to clients as well.

Would it not be beneficial to always use systems or just work with styles for even smaller projects to save time editing designs down the line?

Just Enough Research, Erika Hall

NEW

RIGHT

WRONG

HUH

Data does not change all of the minds of people and most people do not want to do research. This was newish to me this could also be from my own assumption because I don’t mind research and often to me it feels like that is the evidence on why things are the way they are or act.

I agree why do we still have failed and terrible products when we know how to design things and have the right data to show what people want out of products and services. A lot of the time it really is company needs over what the user could benefit from or changing assumptions and gaps in research.

I would say not everyone wants better products faster at least all across the line. Me personally i wish some products were not built faster because it retracts on the quality and makes it a cycle of buying and getting rid of products within years. What happened to owning something for a while, knowing it works and repairing it when things go south?

Is having no questions for research as bad as having a really bad question?

A Guide to the Art of Guerrilla UX Testing

NEW

RIGHT

WRONG

HUH

I would say something new and something i learned was hard to do during testing was keeping everything and every test consistent. This was hard because some people understood how to test the app better than others.

I agree that you need an interactive prototype as just screens would provide more confusion then being a help to further the design process.

I do not agree with needing to have a specific location similarly to not testing within the design building. I think as long as you get the problems worked out thats what matters and that will be accomplished no matter where you are.

I don’t understand how guerilla testing could be bad? Because if something goes wrong in one test so what its so quick and easy you just try it again with many other participants. If it doesn’t give valuable insight then just try it again.
